N/N: Mother & Wild, Corsham

It's not new but definitely noteworthy, this is our local favourite that we can’t (or won't) stop visiting or recommending.

It’s not often a place earns both local go-to and destination spot status but Mother & Wild in Corsham has managed it.

Nestled on the High Street, this cosy, effortlessly cool café-bakery hybrid is the kind of place you walk into and immediately exhale. You’ll tell yourself you’re just popping in for a quick coffee. And two hours later? You’re ordering a glass of wine, and oh go on, some arancini, a pizza to share and polenta chips too please.

We’ve been here more times than we care to count (all in the name of research, of course) and it never lets us down. The food is delicious in that laid-back, seasonal, beautifully unfussy way - think sourdough pizzas, fresh pastries, delicious salads and simple plates done really well. They’ve got the balance just right: enough to impress, but still familiar and comforting.

The interiors are rustic but thoughtful a little bit of Cotswold, a little bit of Copenhagen. Imagine exposed brick, warm lighting, and rustic artwork lit by fairy lights. It’s stylish but still feels like the kind of place you can rock up in trainers and a slightly-too-worn knit.

Bonus points for the playlist, which always seems to be the perfect volume and we are always saying we want copy!!

The staff are genuinely lovely; friendly, professional, and make you feel welcome, which is also another reason you're still there two hours later.

And yes, while it has all the easy-going charm of a neighbourhood spot, the prices are definitely more city café than sleepy town. But in a world where good service and food can feel like a dying art, we don’t mind paying for it when everything is spot on and it's worth it.

One last thing to note: if you’re planning to go for lunch or dinner, we’d definitely recommend booking ahead — it’s popular for a reason, and walk-ins can be hit or miss, especially at the weekend. If you’ve got any special requests or need a bit of help, just give the team a call. They’re lovely and will do everything they can to make it work.
